I just found the bestest thing ever!

Check out Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/), it's a glimpse into what the internet could one day be - ie. awesome! (with some scary possibilities). This is the kind of thing I dreamt of as a kid who loved maps and geography and the world and the idea of these new computer things. Up to as late as last year, when the program started but wasn't yet functional, it still seemed distant sci-fi, but it's here and it's real and it's mind blowing.

I especially like getting in close, tilting back so you can see forward a bit and flying around valleys or along highways. Check out some of the cities like New York and Frisco where they actually have 3-D buildings! Or try the "fly-to" option in the top right. They are still building it so there are unclear areas, but in the detailed areas (ie. most major cities) you can see the potential.

ps. the picture is my old haunt in Vancouver, anyone who knows the Kerrisdale area might recognize 33rd and Mackenzie in the foreground
